During my senior year in college, I found a process called Lumen Prints. One of the requirements for the B.F.A. degree was to either do an internship, or take a travel class. I chose the travel class, which I took my senior year. We went to the National S.P.E. conference in Portland, Oregon. Our teacher, and one of my best friends, Darren Clark, assigned us all to pick a topic being presented at the conference, research it, and present it to the rest of the class. My B.F.A. project was all about Public Parks, and there was a presentation on an old air base being transformed into a park, and I chose to present on that topic. One of the four photographers involved was Jerry Burchfield. He had been doing some these Lumen prints down in the Amazon, and the process really captivated me, and so I decided to give it a shot. I started gathering all the old black and white photo paper I could. Darren gave me some sheets he had, and I got a few packs off ebay and went to work. I went to all the rivers and sloughs outside of Rexburg, and got as many aquatic plants as I could find (there weren't many tho, because it was in the middle of winter). Here are a few of my favorites that I did during that time.
